A long summer of poor surf

Its been a very long summer in East London and surrounding areas for Surfers. Onshore conditions have been highly prevalent , and although this is how Surfers know summer , this one seems to have been rather bad.

Running a guest House called Riversway Guest House www.riversway.co.za , I am just minutes drive from Nahoon Beach.
Needless to say I often do a physical surf check , often a few times a day.

However many have been to no avail this summer , and any glimpse of a rare offshore has one driving in hope to assess conditions at Nahoon.

As usual Nahoon Reef has delivered the odd good day this summer , but hungry surf starved crowds have been the order of these days.

However Awesome Autumn is around the corner , and light winds and berg offshore should produce our usual classic days of barreling beach breaks and epic surf again.

We do need good rains to wash out rivers and produce some good banks , like the superbank we had just a few years back that had Nahoon surfers greedily tucking into some of the best waves Ive ever experienced at our river mouth in nahoon.

East London shows off some great winter swell

Constant off shores driven by a battery of cold fronts , heralded some big swell. A bit too large for most breaks yesterday , but as it cleans up , there should be many spots that will fire on Sunday before an almost welcome light east wind on Monday( never thought I would ever hear myself that)

Nahoon has some great lefts in front of the lifesavers shack , with only the rip making things a bit tough to surf it.

I am passionate about Surfing and after a long layoff , have rekindled the stoke for surfing. I am based in East London South Africa , that can boast some of the Southern African coastline's top quality and most consistent surf around.
I have an interest in a Guest House , started by my wife's family in 1996 Riversway Guest House , and we are fortunate to be just a few minutes drive to Nahoon Reef My local surf Spot , and close to many other magnificent waves that break all year round.

We are currently experiencing massive swell that has most areas maxed out with Hurricane strength Offshores , and only some of our local tow in Nuts may be out today to get the massive outer peaks by Jet Ski.
